Hope Bagot Village
Hope Bagot is a small parish comprising 28 period houses and cottages and the village has opted to have a 'Parish Meeting' rather than a Parish Council.
The Parish Meeting has all the (somewhat limited) powers of a parish council but without the more demanding requirements placed upon this level of local authority. The Parish Meeting executive consists of a Chair, Clerk and Financial Secretary. The Parish Meeting is a statutory consultee on planning matters within the parish and can raise an annual rates precept but, otherwise, has very little formal powers or responsibilities (we have no street lights (bliss) or recreational grounds). It does, however, provide a forum and can be a focus for village action and initiatives. The Annual Meeting of the Parish Meeting takes place in May of each year.
