The Church of St John the Baptist has acquired a new gate to replace one that was very dilapidated and, literally, falling to bits.

It is proposed to call the new oak gate 'Charlie's Gate' for two reasons - Charles Kenchington devoted much loving care to the church and churchyard over many years and the gate is a tribute to him and the gate has been paid for from part of the collection taken Charles'  memorial service. Charles was a unique character and all that knew him will, no doubt, remember him with a smile each time they pass through the gate.
